RISO Y FIESTA — RISO Printing Studio Visual Identity

Visual Identity Web Design RISO Motion Graphics

Risograph printing is a technique that combines vibrant sport colors and stencils to create unique designs and illustrations.

RISO Y FIESTA is born around the idea of bringing this technique closer to designers and illustrators everywhere, but particularly in the Canary Islands. The concept behind the studio is to build a relaxed environment where artists and designers can experiment with the technique and discover its benefits, creative potential and peculiarities.

As part of the project, three pieces were designed and printed with a RISO RZ 200 EP machine.

The first design served as a guide for those who didn’t know what RISO printing was. A series of illustrations depict how the printing process works and some of the possibilities that the technique offers.

Next, we printed a color chart, which is a common tool that printing studios offer to their clients as a way of demonstration all the details they need to know about the technique, aswell as the color combinations available through the inks the studio has.

Finally, as a more creative approach, the studio took part in the #36daysoftype challenge, designing the letter ‘i’ and later printing the artwork with the inks Medium Blue, Fluo Pink, Yellow, Green and Black. In this piece we can see the overlay effect, achieving the bright orange that stars in the background of the composition.

The wordmark features the combination of a sans serif font with three custom letters that bring the ‘fiesta’ vibe to the studio’s brand.

RISO printing itself is considered by many artists and designers as a medium for expression and exploration.

However, some creatives are trying to expand its limits combining the unique and vibrant results of RISO printing with the art of animation and stop-motion.

As part of the research for the project, RISO Y FIESTA explored the possibilities of RISO animation, developing a workflow to animate, process, print and assemble the images and prints, to create a looping GIF featuring the studio’s logo.
